Cardinals to battle first-place Patriots

The Thomas Worthington High School boys basketball team will play its final OCC-Central Division game of the season Friday, Feb. 15, at Olentangy Liberty, which can clinch an outright league title with a win.

The Patriots beat the Cardinals 56-50 on Jan. 11 as post player Alex Radkiewicz scored 14 points and guard Matt Muntean scored 10. Point guard Will Hill scored 22 points and guard Lance Leslie scored 13 for the Cardinals, who went 2-0 in league games last week.

On Feb. 5, Thomas beat Central Crossing 64-46 as Hill scored 29 points.

On Feb. 8, the Cardinals defeated Hilliard Davidson 45-42 as Hill scored 16 points, including the final four of the game.

Thomas is 8-5 in the OCC-Central. Liberty is 12-1, a game ahead of Dublin Coffman.

The Cardinals are seeded 15th in the Division I district tournament and open Feb. 23 at home against 24th-seeded Westerville Central.

Wolves to conclude regular season

Kilbourne will wrap up OCC-Cardinal play by playing Friday, Feb. 15, at Dublin Scioto.

The Irish defeated Kilbourne 60-42 on Jan. 11 as guard Josh Ashwill made six 3-pointers and scored 33 points. Wing player Ryan Adolph and post player Mike Chambers each scored 12 points for the Wolves, who went 1-1 in league games last week.

The Wolves edged Dublin Jerome 52-51 on Feb. 5 as point guard Seth Hill scored 19 points, Adolph scored 12 and wing player Tyler Stern-Tucker scored 10.

Kilbourne lost to Westerville North 61-49 on Feb. 8 despite Hill scoring 16 points and Adolph and post player Grant Hartman each scoring 12.

The Wolves are seeded 26th in the district tournament and have a first-round bye. They will play eighth-seeded Reynoldsburg or 37th-seeded Whetstone in the second round Feb. 27.
