After three seasons as the Worthington Christian High School girls basketball coach, Adam Heath told his players earlier this month that he was stepping down at season’s end.
The Warriors were the second seed for the Division IV district tournament but lost to visiting Morral Ridgedale 37-36 in a third-round game Feb. 21 to finish 18-6.
Under Heath, Worthington Christian went 49-21 and was a district semifinalist in 2011 and a district runner-up a year ago. Heath was named the district’s Coach of the Year for the 2010-11 season.
The Warriors had gone a combined 10-31 the previous two seasons before Heath took over.
Heath is planning to work for an organization called Asia’s Hope, which works with orphaned children in Southeast Asia, and isn’t planning to continue teaching at the school.
Heath played for the Worthington Christian boys basketball team that beat Fort Recovery 95-90 in three overtimes to win the 1999 Division IV state championship.
He also previously coached cross country and track at Worthington Christian.
