Thomas upset in tournament opener
The 15th-seeded Thomas Worthington High School boys basketball team was upset by 24th-seeded Westerville Central 43-42 in the first round of the Division I district tournament Feb. 23 at home.
Central led 23-20 at halftime and 35-30 after three quarters. Forward Eric James had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Warhawks, who improved to 12-11. Point guard Will Hill scored 13 points and post player Jesse Greene scored nine for the Cardinals, who finished 14-9.
Wolves begin tourney play
Kilbourne, seeded 26th, opened the Division I district tournament by playing at eighth-seeded Reynoldsburg on Feb. 27 in the second round.
The Wolves had a first-round bye and were 9-13 before playing the Raiders.
The winner advanced to face ninth-seeded Gahanna or 21st-seeded Olentangy in a district semifinal at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Westerville Central, with that winner playing in a district final at 3 p.m. March 9 at the Fairgrounds Coliseum.
Last year, the Wolves lost to Walnut Ridge 43-21 in the second round.
