Franklin, Wells lead Thomas boys team

Senior Tyrin Franklin and junior Jalen Wells placed in four events to lead the Thomas Worthington High School boys track and field team in the 13-team Dublin Classic on April 20 at Coffman.

Wells won the 300-meter hurdles (40.37 seconds) and Franklin placed second (41.87) in the event as the Cardinals finished fifth (48 points) behind champion Hilliard Davidson (133.5).

The 800 relay of junior Akwasi Boeham, junior Malyk Burks, Franklin and Wells won in 1:32.37. Those four were second in the 1,600 relay (3:31.02) and third in the 400 relay (44.37).

Thomas girls relay tops at Coffman

The Thomas girls team finished sixth (46) in the 14-team Dublin Classic behind champion Brunswick (104.5).

The 3,200 relay of junior Ashley Forte, senior Cheyenne Buckingham, sophomore Holly Payne and junior Ariel Rittenhouse won in 10:10.69.

The 1,600 relay of Forte, junior Ryanna Reid, junior Allison Huedepohl and junior Shea Davis was fourth (4:24.33), and the 400 relay of junior Alex Brown, Reid, freshman Liesl Ludwig and junior Chandler Adamatis was fifth (52.95).

Senior Cassandra Laios was second in the shot put (35-2 1/2) and fourth in the discus (98-4). Adamatis was fifth in the 300 hurdles (51.53).

Bridges, Meehan lead Kilbourne boys

The Kilbourne boys team finished 10th (34) in the Dublin Classic.

Junior Chandler Bridges won the long jump (21-2 1/2) and was third in the 400 (52.51). Junior Alex Meehan won the shot put (44-9 3/4).

Bridges also was a member of the fourth-place 800 relay (1:35.53) with senior Jason Defourney, junior Keaton Reinhart and senior Austin Taylor.
