Girls pole vaulters lead Kilbourne at Lancaster

Senior Paige Martinski and sophomore Allie Giust of the Worthington Kilbourne High School girls track and field team tied for first in the pole vault in the Fulton Relays on April 26 at Lancaster.

Martinski and Giust both cleared 9 feet to tie Pickerington North's Abby Hart for the title, as the Wolves scored 37 points to finish ninth behind champion Upper Arlington (85.5) as 10 teams scored.

The sprint medley relay of freshman Samantha Roberts, sophomore Kayla Rice, freshman Breanne Huffman and senior Taylor Hill placed second in 1 minute, 56.02 seconds.

The Kilbourne boys team finished 10th (26.5) in the Fulton Relays behind champion Pickerington North (89) as 11 teams scored.

Junior Chandler Bridges placed second in the long jump (20-1/2) and junior Alex Meehan was runner-up in the shot put (47-2 3/4).

Wells leads Thomas boys in Comet Relays

Jalen Wells led the Thomas boys team in the Comet Relays on April 27 at Amherst Steele.

The junior won the 100 meters (11.07) and 300 hurdles (39.18), as the Cardinals finished 10th (34) behind champion Cleveland St. Ignatius (73) as 22 teams scored.

Junior Malyk Burks placed fourth in the long jump (20-9 1/4).

The Thomas girls team tied Avon for 13th (20) in the Comet Relays behind champion Steele (100) as 23 teams scored.

The 6,400 relay of senior Cheyenne Buckingham, sophomore Holly Payne, senior Anna Klompen and junior Ariel Rittenhouse placed third (22:46.24) and junior Chandler Adamaitis placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (17.06).
