Kilbourne girls earn regional spot

The Worthington Kilbourne High School girls cross country team advanced to the Division I regional Saturday, Oct. 26, at Pickerington North by finishing third (94 points) in the 11-team district 1 meet Oct. 19 at Watkins Memorial behind champion Hilliard Davidson (48).

Scoring for the Wolves were Emily Stoodley (sixth, 19 minutes, 13.3 seconds), Kaitlyn Napoli (12th, 19:44.58), Leanne Wegley (14th, 19:48.64), Camille Rider (23rd, 20:26.12) and Beth Findell (39th, 21:26.34).

The top five teams and top 20 individuals advanced to regional, where the top four teams and top 16 individuals advance to the state meet Nov. 2 at National Trail Raceway.

Competing as an individual at regional a year ago, Napoli finished 97th (21:37.9).

The boys team finished ninth (269) in the 14-team district 2 race behind champion Dublin Jerome (23), as the top five teams and top 20 individuals advanced to regional.

Tanner Taylor (44th, 17:48.54), Ryan Baxter (52nd, 17:58.28), Dylan Roesch (57th, 18:17.61), Matt Kulling (62nd, 18:36.7) and Sam Zeid (64th, 18:48.46) scored for the Wolves.

Thomas girls second, boys third at district

The Thomas boys and girls teams both advanced to regional.

The girls finished second (61) in the district 1 meet as Christina Nash (fourth, 19:08.26), Ariel Rittenhouse (fifth, 19:11.15), Hannah Moulton (16th, 19:51.23), Laura Hill (17th, 19:51.85) and Annie Steele (18th, 19:54.3) scored.

The boys placed third (94) in the 14-squad district 1 meet behind champion Davidson (29) as Jonathan Kissell (ninth, 16:35.22), Jonathan Allen (14th, 16:52.35), Zach Emptage (20th, 17:11.89), Jack Dotts (24th, 17:25.53) and Evan Miller (27th, 17:33.57) scored.

Last year, the girls team was 12th (290) at regional behind champion Davidson (50).
