Bob Miller’s long and storied coaching career came to an end April 10 when he resigned as coach of the Thomas Worthington High School boys basketball team.

Miller, 72, earned a 586-350 career record in 41 seasons at Thomas and Groveport, including 423-267 in 31 seasons with the Cardinals.

Miller coached basketball a total of 49 seasons, as he began his career guiding Groveport’s freshman squad during the 1965-66 season.

“Basketball’s always been my first love and that’s never changed,” Miller said. “But I’m an old guy and I’ve been at this for a long time, and there are a lot of other things that my wife (Judy) and I want to do.

“Our son (Scott) and our two grandkids, Weston and Ellie, live in Louisville, and our daughter (Lori) lives near Dayton, and we’d like to visit our family more often. And we love to travel, and we have good friends in Italy and Ireland who we’d like to see as well.”
