Kilbourne finishes second in OCC-Capital


The Worthington Kilbourne High School boys tennis team made a strong showing in its first season in the OCC-Capital Division.

The Wolves went 6-1 in the league to place second behind New Albany (7-0) and will compete in the second-place OCC tournament Saturday, May 10, at a site to be determined.

Kilbourne defeated Watterson 4-1 on May 5 and was 8-3 overall before playing Dublin Scioto on May 6.

The Wolves defeated Olentangy 4-1 in their league finale May 1, getting wins from Rohan Gupta at first singles, Eric Wang at second singles, Keaton Quinn and George Liu at first doubles and Steven Borchers and Dhruv Taneja at second doubles.

Cardinals place 6th in OCC-Central

Thomas went 2-5 in the OCC-Central to finish sixth behind champion Upper Arlington (7-0).

The Cardinals, who will compete in the sixth-place OCC tournament Saturday, May 10, defeated Central Crossing 5-0 on April 29 in their league finale. Their other league victory came against Westland, 4-1 on April 15.

Winning at singles against Central Crossing were Nick Meyer at first, Chris Chia at second, Ashish Vankara at third. In doubles, Zach Graham and Sam Chen won at No. 1 and Sam Owen and Luke Bobay at No. 2. The Cardinals dropped to 2-11 overall with a 4-1 loss to Westerville South on May 5.
