Armes lauded as champion of education

Whitehall City School District officials last week formally dedicated the Walter Armes Learning Center at Whitehall-Yearling High School in honor of the current board president and longtime district advocate.

Section of high school will be renamed in Armes' honor

Whitehall school board members and city officials will gather at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Whitehall-Yearling High School, 675 S. Yearling Road, to formally dedicate the Walter Armes Learning Center in honor of the board's president.

District shrinks busing radius for three elementary schools

Only students living within about a half-mile of their Whitehall elementary school are eligible for busing after Whitehall school board members acted Aug. 13 to halve the minimum qualifying distance.

Choir director keyed up over new piano

Students in chorale groups at Whitehall-Yearling High School will carry a better tune this year now that the school has acquired a grand piano for use at its concerts and other special events.

Band camp in Bellefontaine hones marchers' skills

About 65 to 70 Whitehall-Yearling High School marchers will attend band camp Aug. 3-7 at Camp Wilson in Bellefontaine.
