Ohio Special Olympics Summer Games

Nearly 2,400 athletes across Ohio participated in the Special Olympics State Summer Games June 28 - 30 at The Ohio State University. The games featured competition in 11 sports: Aquatics (swimming), Athletics (track and field), Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, Gymnastics, Power Lifting, Roller Skating, Soccer, Tennis, and Volleyball. The games officially kicked off with the inspiring Opening Ceremonies in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Friday evening with a Parade of Athletes along with the dramatic entrance of the Law Enforcement Torch Run into the stadium and the lighting of the “Flame of Hope.” Watch an audio slideshow from the games and a video (below) of the opening ceremony and highlights of the individual athlete's performances.
