Gahanna is honoring its veterans at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, the traditional Veterans Day celebration.

Council's Tom Kneeland, who is also a member of the committee which oversees the veterans celebrations, recently observed that the original Veterans Day comes from the moment the armistice of World War I was announced, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

A ceremony and the installation of new pavers in the Veterans Memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Memorial, 73 W. Johnstown Road.

Other activities this coming week will include the 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, lighting of the Winter Wonderland. The display at Creekside Plaza and Park will be open from Nov. 12 through Jan. 4, 2010.

For Friday, Parks and Recreation officials have announced that the ceremony will include caroling, candy canes and hot chocolate.

The event and refreshments will be free.
