The Grove City Lions Club will hold its eighth annual auction and dinner beginning at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, in the activity center at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2213 White Road. The evening will feature a 50-50 drawing.

Proceeds of the event will benefit local and national endeavors in sight preservation and assist the blind and visually impaired.

Grove City community members are invited to attend.

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio will provide residents of Franklin County with 13 Household Hazardous Waste mobile collections in 2009.

The schedule begins in Dublin on Saturday, April 25, and concludes in Grove City on Saturday, Oct 17.

Residents of Franklin County can also make use of SWACO's permanent HHW site at 1249 Essex Ave. in Columbus.

Collections are always on scheduled on Saturdays and run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Last year, residents brought 847,000 pounds of old paint, insecticides, thinners, lawn chemicals and the like to the SWACO mobile collections. More than half of that, 584,000 pounds, was paint.

Residents are reminded that latex paint is not considered hazardous if it is dried.ÊOnce the water is out of latex paint, the hardened remainder can be thrown in the trash.

SWACO will promote the mobile collections on a regular basis, however residents can go to: www.swaco.org to view and download a copy of the 2009 HHW schedule. That Web page will also provide a list of acceptable and non-acceptable materials for the collections.

SWACO 2009 Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection Schedule in the Grove City area:

• Aug. 8 in Groveport -Madison Township at Groveport Madison Senior High School, 4475 South Hamilton Road

• Aug. 22 in Columbus at the Georgesville Road Transfer Facility, 1550 Georgesville Road

• Oct. 17 in Grove City at the Broadway Shopping Center, Southwest Boulevard and Broadway.
