The exhibit "Romancing the Past: Ancient Babylon in Granville," will open Friday, May 23, with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. in Burke Hall, 240 W. Broadway. The exhibit of ancient Mesopotamian relics, including some cuneiform tablets, runs through Aug. 17.

Antiquities enthusiast Edgar James Banks (1866-1945) was the originator of the part of the show that includes the relics.

The exhibit focuses on the discovery of lost treasures in forgotten lands.

Events scheduled to accompany the exhibition include a book club meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Buxton Inn, 313 E. Broadway; a family day at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, with a children's book reading, a tour and a brief introduction to the exhibition. All events are free and open to the public.
