Budget constraints resulted in a county employee being laid off on Sept. 28.
Christine Ann Maynard of Magnetic Springs was notified that her position is being abolished as a result of reorganization and she will no longer be working as a permanent full-time administrative assistant, effective at the close of business Oct. 12. "This is the ugly part of the job," said Commissioner Gary Lee immediately after the commissioners signed the resolution to eliminate the position. Commissioner Charles Hall said approximately $19,000 in wages will be saved by eliminating the position and having three other employees split the duties. Hall and Lee said the decision to eliminate Maynard's position has been a work in progress largely based on budget issues. The resolution indicated that reinstatement rights would be effective one calendar year from the date of the layoff. -- Cathy Wogan Story toolsToday’s Top Stories
