The Union County Sheriff's office will host a second medication disposal day later this month.

The program will be held in conjunction with the Richwood Police Department and the Northern Union County Fire Department, according to a release from Sheriff Rocky Nelson's office.

"Bring your expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to North Union High School and law enforcement officers will dispose of these medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner," said Lt. Jeff Frisch.

The disposal program will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at North Union High School, 401 N. Franklin St., Richwood.

According to information from the sheriff's office, 25.5-percent of high school students reported using a prescription drug without a doctor's prescription, and 96-percent of unintentional poisoning deaths in Ohio are due to drugs and medication.

For more information on the drug disposal day, contact Lt. Frisch at (937) 645-4150.
