The Marysville Exempted Village School District Board of Education has announced the hiring of Cynthia Ritter as its new treasurer/CFO.

The announcement was made at the board's Nov. 5 meeting.

Ritter, currently treasurer at Circleville City Schools, will join Marysville schools effective Feb. 1, 2010.

Ritter has 28 years of experience as a schools treasurer in Ohio.

"It's a great school district and a great opportunity," Ritter said.

"She's an outstanding treasurer and we're thrilled to have her here," Superintendent Larry Zimmerman said. "She understands the issues we have here very well."

"We are very excited to have Cindy come aboard as she brings a lot of knowledge and experience to the table," board president Jeff Mabee told ThisWeek.

Mabee called retiring treasurer/CFO Delores Cramer a "tremendous asset to our district and community. She leaves some pretty big shoes to fill."

The board also voted to move Cramer's effective retirement date from Feb. 28 to Jan. 31.

Ritter hold a bachelor's degree from the University of Findlay and a master's degree from Ashland University. She has served as treasurer for the Bellevue City Schools, West Liberty-Salem Local School and Van Buren Local Schools, and as assistant treasurer at Findlay City Schools.

She is married with two children, one a college graduate living in Columbus and the other a senior at Circleville High School.
