The Ohio Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Chip Tansill of Westerville handed responsibility for the organization's leadership to Maj. Daniel Shank during a change-of-command ceremony last month at the Beightler Armory in Columbus.

Shank, of Powell, has 22 years of military experience. He has a bachelor's degree in natural resource development and a master's in business administration in addition to an extensive military education.

Ten recruit sustainment companies and a headquarters company make up the battalion, which is the Ohio Army National Guard's largest.
