The Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce is looking boost business and social networking through
its first Thanksgiving-themed bowling event.
On Nov. 18, the chamber will hold a "Turkeys for Turkeys" tournament from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rule(3), 650 Windmiller Drive. The event is being hosted by the Ambassador Committee, a group of chamber members interested in promoting their businesses and the chamber. Organizers say the tournament is being held to infuse some fun into the holidays and to help local businesses and residents connect with one another. "This is our first one," said Jen Dear, membership director for the chamber. "We've tried to add more of a social aspect to our gatherings and events. It's kind of to give people the opportunity to network in a less-formal atmosphere." The event's name is a play on the bowling term, "turkey," which represents three consecutive strikes by a bowler. It also will carry a Thanksgiving theme, with sponsors Rule (3), Giant Eagle and Honeybaked Ham Co. providing holiday-themed prizes. Currently, the chamber is seeking teams of four. The tournement is open to chamber and non-chamber members. The cost is $65 per team. "That includes everything, your shoes and lanes," Dear said. The team with the highest cumulative score will win a Thanksgiving-themed grand prize. Team reservations must be made by Nov. 13 by calling the chamber at (614) 837-1958, or online at www.pickeringtonchamber.com. Story toolsToday’s Top Stories
