Upper Arlington resident Margherita Finelli, left, and Hilliard resident Kathy Cleveland Bull have started an online radio show "From the Inside Out," which focuses on inspirational topics. Bull is the host of the program and Finelli is the executive producer.

With their new radio show, Margherita Finelli of Upper Arlington and Kathy Cleveland Bull of Hilliard are out to give listeners a regular dose of inspiration.

"From the Inside Out," which launched in late October, is a 30-minute weekly radio program that can be heard at Blogtalkradio.com and Insideoutwithkathy.com. The focus of the show is on providing insight into how to successfully navigate the twists and turns of life.

"We're going to come at change from every conceivable angle. We'll be talking about relationships and health and finances and careers," said Cleveland Bull, who hosts the show. "We'll be addressing the big questions of life -- what am I here to learn?"

"Our program is different and offers those pearls you need to keep going," said Finelli, who serves as executive producer. "It's an energy drink, in a different kind of way, for your mind. It allows you to step back, take a breath and move forward."

Launching a radio show was a natural progression for Finelli and Cleveland Bull, who both have backgrounds in communication. Cleveland Bull, who lives in Hilliard with her husband and two daughters, is a speaker, trainer and consultant.

Cleveland Bull helped develop the first "Who Moved My Cheese" program and her company, N-Compass Consulting, helps people "navigate the art and science of change." She has appeared on the national speaker circuit with such heavyweights as Dr. Phil McGraw and Deepak Chopra.

Finelli holds a degree in communications from Ohio State University and has an extensive background in television production. She has served as community affairs director for WTTE-TV in Columbus and as executive producer of the Ohio State University Medical Center's national satellite medical series, "Omen," for which she won several national awards for her work.

Finelli has served as president of the Buckeye Chapter of American Women in Radio and TV and is the founder of MediaMix Communications, in which she produces educational and commercial video presentations. Finelli also operates Uasupersite.com, an online directory of local organizations and a community calendar of events.

Finelli and Cleveland Bull met through mutual friends and found they share an interest in inspirational programming.

"We want to be that place that people turn on and think, 'Today, I can. I can deal with today. I can manage today,'" Cleveland Bull said.

When she met Cleveland Bull, Finelli had just wrapped a communications project for OSU and was looking for a new creative outlet.

"I wanted to get back to producing meaningful programming," she said, "because that's my passion."

As they developed the concept for "From the Inside Out," Finelli and Cleveland Bull found that the show was more suited to the Internet than a traditional radio station.

"Most of the stations that are targeted for women are music stations. Most of the radio talk shows for men are about sports," Finelli said. "We decided, 'We're going to take this out to the Internet.'"

The pair has found that the Internet is an ideal forum for "From the Inside Out." Past shows are archived and available for download through iTunes.

"It creates an opportunity for people to access the information whenever they want instead of whenever we happen to be on the air," Cleveland Bull said.

"From the Inside Out" is recorded at the studios of Brainstorm Media in Grandview Heights. Upcoming guests include humorist Pat Wynn Brown, author of "Hair-a-Baloo: The Revealing Comedy and Tragedy on Top of Your Head," who is scheduled for Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.

The show will also feature Dr. Rebecca Jackson, director of the Center for Women's Health at the Ohio State University Medical Center, discussing the topic "Taking Charge of Your Health," on Nov. 17 at noon.

Finelli and Cleveland Bull say they plan to feature a mix of national and local guests and welcome questions and show-topic suggestions from listeners. They are currently seeking guests who have been forced to reinvent themselves because of the economy.

"Maybe we can spotlight some of those hometown heroes and shed light on their stories," Cleveland Bull said.

"From the Inside Out" is steadily building an audience, Finelli said.

"We've had such great feedback already," she said, "one listener at a time."
