Longtime Kingsdale tenant MCL Restaurant & Bakery has a new location. MCL was to reopen today (Dec. 10) on the Tremont Road side of the center, between Macy's and the Jeffrey Thomas clothing store, after closing its original Northwest Boulevard site on Dec. 4. The move is part of the long-awaited redevelopment of Kingsdale, which Continental Real Estate Companies began in August after completing its purchase of the center. Customers have been inquiring about MCL's relocation for months, said Jesse Feil, chief operating officer of the Indianapolis-based chain. "They've known we were moving. We've been communicating all through the last several months," he said. "They are anxiously awaiting our arrival." At 10,300 square feet, the new restaurant is slightly larger than the previous location, which was just under 10,000 square feet. The decor of the new facility is updated but familiar, Feil said, with 14-foot ceilings and antique hanging light fixtures with amber stained-glass panels. "The old restaurant was 41 years old. We're modernized," Feil said. "Everything is brand new in the whole building. Size-wise, it's just a little bigger and better organized." While the new restaurant will mostly focus on the menu items that frequent customers are accustomed to, there will be a few new dishes, Feil said. "We've got a brand new Asian trout that our chef will be rolling out this next week," he said. "It will be a similar menu. We make everything from scratch, all home-cooked foods." MCL will most likely wait to hold a grand reopening celebration when most of the Kingsdale redevelopment is completed, Feil said. "We'll probably wait until this summer when Giant Eagle and the rest of the center is open," he said. Story toolsToday’s Top Stories
