plans fall concert

A program of one-act operas will be presented by the Otterbein College Opera Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the Battelle Fine Arts Center's Riley Auditorium, 170 W. Park St., Westerville.

The performance is free and open to the public.

On the program are Seymour Barab's "A Game of Chance," and Julie and Eugene Mandel's "I Wish, I Wish, I Wish."

The sophomore acting class will perform two scenes from the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Rabbit Hole," by David Lindsay-Abaire.

The Otterbein College student pop/rock ensemble, The Anticipations, will present a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Espresso Yourself Music Café, 50 W. Olentangy St., Powell. Tickets are $5 general admission; students are admitted free.

The Otterbein College String Orchestra will perform with the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in Cowan Hall's Fritsche Theatre, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville.

On the program are Bach's "Concerto for Harpsichord" in D minor, BWV 1052, and music by Joan Trimble and Ellen Taafe Zwillich.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The Otterbein College Percussion Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Battelle Fine Arts Center's Riley Auditorium, 170 W. Park St., Westerville.

The program will feature Gordon Peters' "The Swords of Moda-Ling;" Paul Goldstaub's "Six Slick Stix Click Licks (fugue for fun for 3 snare drums)" (played on six snare drums); Yo Goto's "Invisibles Pass By;" and Alex Orfaly's "Old Pueblo Rag" for marimba band.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The Youth Philharmonic of Central Ohio will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in Cowan Hall's Fritsche Theatre, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville.

The Youth Philharmonic, an independent youth orchestra composed of young central Ohio musicians, performs two concerts a year. The orchestra this year has rehearsed at Otterbein College, receiving instruction from faculty members and music students.

The fall concert will feature Mozart's "Impresario" overture, Tchaikovsky's "Andante cantabile," and two movements from Franz Joseph Haydn's "Symphony 104."

The performance is free and open to the public.
