It is again time to pull out the lawn chairs and the grill and say "hi neighbor."

Sunday is Worthington's fifth annual "Hi Neighbor" day, a time that many neighborhoods set aside for reconnecting with those who live near to them.

Beginning at 4 p.m. -- or at whatever time is agreed upon -- neighborhoods throughout the city will gather outside to chat, reconnect with those they haven't seen for a while, and meet the newcomers.

Some will play games, others will have picnics and potlucks, many will fire up the grill. On some streets, with the permission of the city, they close down the streets to allow more room to spread out.

Hi Neighbor day, now sponsored by the city's Community Relations Commission, was started by former City Council member Courtney Chapman, who was disappointed that neighbors no longer seem to know each other the way they did in generations past.
