Art and Music Festival coming to Historic Dublin Sept. 26 Abbey Theater lists child-friendly fall lineup Thursday, September 16, 2004
MICHAEL RACEY
The sixth annual Dublin Art and Music Festival will set up camp in Historic Dublin in less than two weeks.
The festival, set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26, is expected to offer visitors what the event's promoters are calling an "eclectic" mix of 72 artists and vendors.
"The quality of the art at this year's event will be second to none," said Jessica Fagan, visual-arts manager of the Dublin Arts Council. "The variety, originality and level of craftsmanship are outstanding."
The festival will bring its usual open-air market feel to the historic district and will feature a children's area with several hands-on activities to keep young artists and their parents entertained.
A new feature of this year's festival is the silent art auction, where visitors will be able to bid on the works of many of the artists featured at the event.
Parking for the festival will be available at several lots near Historic Dublin, the easiest being the lots at Sells Middle School, the 1919 Building and Indian Run Elementary School on the west side of the district, along Bridge Street.
The music component of the festival will include a full day's worth of entertainment at two stages.
Everything from a marching-band drum line to Latin jazz will be offered at the main and community stages throughout the day.
The following is the list of acts scheduled as of The Villager's publication deadline:
Main stage:
Note: The Dave Powers Duo will perform 30-minute sets at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m.
