Businesses in Dublin's Historic District will cater to those with a sweet tooth Saturday, May 13.
Hosted by the Historic Dublin Business Association, the fourth annual Sweet Stroll will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Historic District.
Business association coordinator Christena Wentz said the event was designed because of the popularity of other business association food events.
Since those events -- such as the Chili Cookoff and the Slider Challenge -- didn't leave attendees much time to visit nearby retail businesses, organizers decided the Sweet Stroll could feature sweet treats for patrons inside partnering retail locations when possible.
"It's definitely a great family activity," Wentz said.
This year's event includes a roster of returning businesses and sweets. The Woodhouse Day Spa will host La Chatelaine French Bakery & Bistro; Chelsea Borough Home will host Mezzo Dublin; and Ha'penny Bridge Imports of Ireland will host Dublin Village Tavern. Destinations also include Our CupCakery, Winans Dublin and Starbucks.
Although the eateries haven't divulged their sweets selections for this year, last year's menu offered a variety of treats. Winan's gave out a piece of chocolate, Dublin Village Tavern offered a sample size of its Irish car bomb brownie, and Mezzo shared lemon blueberry cheesecake and a flourless chocolate tort.
"It was delicious," Wentz said.
This year, part of the event proceeds will benefit the Dublin Women's Philanthropic Club, a local non-profit organization which focuses on helping women, children and families.
Rachel Dean-Haas, who is vice president of the club as well as the Historic Dublin Business Association, said funds from the sweet stroll will go toward the club's scholarships and adult grants.
The Sweet Stroll will be held rain or shine. A maximum of 250 tickets are available for $10 each. Tickets can be purchased in advance in person at Tickets Galore, 58 S. High St. in Dublin, via phone at 614-889-2989, or online at usaseats.com.
Saturday, tickets can be purchased at Chelsea Borough Home, 54 S. High St.
Parking is available in public lots, and street parking is available on South High Street.
