The Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the Olentangy Local School District are trying to determine who defaced Olentangy Liberty High School with vulgar graffiti last week.

Maj. David Wiseman said the sheriff's office received a report May 17 that someone had spray-painted two messages on exterior walls at the school at the intersection of Home Road and Sawmill Parkway in Liberty Township. He said one message read "(expletive) Trump," while a second read "Free FTA."

The incident took place between 10 p.m. May 16 and 6 a.m. May 17, according to sheriff's reports.

Wiseman said no suspects have been identified, but investigators are reviewing evidence from the scene.

"We're looking at video cameras, etc. to identify the suspects or the vehicles they were in," he said.

Wiseman said investigators believe FTA stands for Future Tailgaters of America, a student cheering section at the school.

A message posted on Twitter by the account FTA2k17 claims the action goes against the spirit of the group.

"As new leaders we DO NOT condone vandalism nor the destruction of school property. These actions do not represent the true values of FTA," the post states.

Wiseman said the school did not provide an estimate for the cost of the damage and moved quickly to remove the graffiti from the building.

Liberty Principal William Warfield said the district is investigating the incident. He declined to provide further comment about the graffiti or FTA.
