Columbus Axe Throwing provides all the fun you never knew you could have with an ax.

The business, housed deep inside Star Indoor Sports, 6124 Busch Blvd., which itself is tucked away in the Continent in Columbus' Northland neighborhood, is aptly named.

Catering to corporate team-building events, recreational ax-tossing enthusiasts and even date nights with an edge, Columbus Axe Throwing teaches participants how to (safely) chuck an ax at a target 15 away - and get it to stick. Flannel attire is encouraged.

When the business invited ThisWeek Community News staffers to visit the facility it moved into earlier this month, how could we say no?

Managing editor Lee Cochran showed up May 24 with staffers Abby Armbruster, Thomas Gallick, Andrew King, Lisa Proctor and Neil Thompson to see if “axepert” Noah could turn them into Paul Bunyans over the next hour and a half.

One other rule of ax-throwing: Lumberjack names are required. (Our "Hank Stamper" was sorely disappointed nobody appreciated his reference to the Paul Newman logging movie, "Sometimes a Great Notion.")

So how did it go? Take a look, because the videos speak for themselves.
