CANTON TWP. The Fire Department has been awarded $280,993 from the Department of Homeland Security under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The grant is for the purchase of a new mobile dual live fire tactical trainer.
The Fire Department's required contribution of $14,049 brings the total cost of the project to $295,042.
The structure will be delivered to the department on trailers then placed together. It can be disassembled and moved in the future, when necessary. The new training structure will allow firefighters to train with live fire while practicing extinguishing techniques as well as ventilation and confined space scenarios. Area departments also will have the opportunity to use the training structure.
