Registration is open for the Rotary Club of Westerville Independence Day celebration events that will begin at 8 a.m. July 4.
Participants can register entries for the Fourth of July parade, set for 1 p.m., and the 5K Walk/Run, set for 8 a.m. at Alum Creek Park North, 233 W. Main St.
Completed parade registration forms must be mailed back to be received by June 16, and entrants who miss the deadline must register in-person the morning of the parade.
5K Walk-Run registration is available through the club website, WestervilleRotary.com, and at PremierRaces.com. Day-of registration will be accepted at the event site beginning at 6:30 a.m. A Children's Fun Run and awards ceremony will follow the 5K at 9:15 and 9:25 a.m.
The fireworks display will be held 10 p.m. at Alum Creek Park South.
Ohio State University's Archie Griffin will be the 2017 parade grand marshal. The theme of this year's parade is "Home of the Free, Because of the Brave." A community food drive will be conducted along the parade route to benefit the Westerville Area Resource Ministry.
The 1 p.m. parade is followed by a concert series at Westerville South High School, 303 S. Otterbein Ave., beginning at 3 p.m. and lasting through the fireworks. Several musical groups will perform, headlined by Phil Dirt and the Dozers.
Food and beverages will be available through food trucks on the site.
Rain date for the fireworks display is 10 p.m. July 5.
