Paving on the Interstate 270 and U.S. Route 33 interchange in Dublin has been postponed due to equipment failures.

A press release from the Ohio Department of Transportation said the paving would be postponed until next week. Nightly lane and ramp closures scheduled for the remainder of the week have been suspended.

Work began on Father's Day, and ODOT said in a news release that crews were expected to continue paving for the next two months, weather permitting.

Paving at 270/33 interchange starts Father's Day

Paving on the Interstate 270 and U.S. Route 33 interchange in Dublin is about to begin and signals the end of a project that was started more than two years ago.

Crews are expected to continue paving for the next two months, weather permitting, according to a news release from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Paving, which is permitted only during night and overnight hours, will be a slow-moving operation, so drivers should allow for additional time to get through the zone safely, the ODOT release said.

Posted detours will be provided, but drivers should consider alternate routes.

The lane-restriction schedule is as follows:

SUNDAY, JUNE 18

8 p.m.: Route 33 east will be reduced to one lane from Avery Road to Post and Frantz roads.

11 p.m.: Route 33 east (all lanes) will be closed, and traffic will be forced to exit at I-270 south. The posted detour is I-270 south to Tuttle Crossing Boulevard to I-270 north/east.

5 a.m.: All lanes of Route 33 east will be open.

MONDAY, JUNE 19

8 p.m.: Route 33 east will be reduced to two lanes between Avery and I-270.

8 p.m.: The ramp from Route 33 east to I-270 east will be closed. The posted detour is Route 33 east to I-270 south to Tuttle Crossing to I-270 north/east.

MONDAY, JUNE 19, AND TUESDAY, JUNE 20

8 p.m.: Route 33 east will be reduced to two lanes between Avery and I-270.

8 p.m.: The ramp from Route 33 east to I-270 east will be closed. The posted detour will be Route 33 east to I-270 south to Tuttle Crossing to I-270 north/east.

8 p.m.: The ramp from Avery to Route 33 east will close. The posted detour will be Avery to Route 33 west to Post Road to state Route 161 to Route 33 east.

Construction on the $68 million project began in spring 2015.

Jeannie Willis, Dublin’s engineering manager of transportation, has said the interchange project eliminates the weaving traffic that was occurring on Route 33 and I-270 and will result in significantly reduced congestion that is already being seen on Route 33 between Avery-Muirfield Drive and I-270.

Drivers who had to detour to gain access to southbound I-270 from westbound Route 33 will be able to access I-270 more efficiently, Willis said.

In addition, the dedicated ramp for through traffic on Route 33 westbound will separate Avery-Muirfield Drive traffic from Marysville traffic and eliminate traffic backup on I-270, Willis said.
