Operators of a local restaurant group want to create a contemporary diner in the vacant Happy Dragon site in German Village.
Randy and Tina Corbin, owners of such venues as Little Palace and Philco Bar + Diner, were granted a parking variance tonight, July 25, by the Columbus Board of Zoning Adjustment to allow for the new restaurant, 277 E. Livingston Ave.
It will be just down the street from the couple’s other German Village restaurant, Club 185, at 185 E. Livingston.
Architect Bill Hugus, who was speaking on the Corbins’ behalf, said they have not settled on a name for the establishment, but it would be reminiscent of Philco – high-end breakfast and lunch and casual dinner service.
Their plan is to open the new restaurant by the end of the year, Hugus said.
The building’s second floor would be converted into a single apartment, he said.
The Corbins also own the Rossi Bar & Kitchen and El Camino Inn.
