As of July 25, the Perry Township Police Department still is investigating the drowning death of a 6-year-old boy at Worthington Hills Country Club on May 26, according to Chief John Petrozzi.

Jude Kraft was reported missing at the country club at 5 p.m. and his body was pulled from the deep end of the pool by a lifeguard on the scene. CPR was administered, but Jude was pronounced dead at 7 p.m. at a Nationwide Children's Hospital clinic in Lewis Center.

Nearly two months after Jude's death, Petrozzi said, the investigation remains classified as "ongoing." Petrozzi said he has seen media reports to the contrary, but that claim is "not an accurate report."

He said Delaware County Coroner Mark Hickman ruled the drowning as accidental, but while "at this point in time no evidence to indicate a crime has taken place," he's not willing to end the investigation prematurely.

"That's how we've taken this report," he said. "Everything we've found so far substantiates the coroner's findings, but we are not done with our investigation. I have no real timeline."

Petrozzi said he is more concerned with accuracy than speed.

"Until all the questions in my head are answered, we'll keep investigating," he said.
