Superintendent Jim Sotlar said the staggered schedule makes the return to school a little easier, especially for incoming high school freshmen.
"The staggered start for freshmen allows them to engage in a full day of orientation and an abbreviated class schedule," he said. "They get to meet teachers and navigate the high school without all the students in the building. The transition day provides time for freshmen to ask questions and acclimate to high school."
The week before kindergarten opens is reserved for testing incoming students.
As in past years, families can use their Parent OneView online accounts to complete district forms. Beginning Monday, Aug. 7, that account will also provide transportation and homeroom information.
