Backup was required Aug. 28 after a man fled from a traffic stop near James River Road and Carters Grove.
A New Albany police officer stopped the man, a 33-year-old Reynoldsburg resident, for driving in marked lanes at 1:01 a.m. Aug. 23. The man fled on foot but was arrested in the 5900 block of Carters Grove after an officer found him.
He was cited with OVI, obstructing official business and driving in marked lanes.
In other recent incident reports from the New Albany Police Department:
* A 47-year-old Columbus man was cited for OVI at 2:54 a.m. Aug. 26 at the Beech Road overpass over state Route 161 after an officer saw him driving erratically.
* A 33-year-old Johnstown man was cited for drug abuse, drug paraphernalia and an expired license after a traffic stop for driving with one headlight at 2:44 a.m. Aug. 25 eastbound on state Route 161 near Beech Road.
Police found a marijuana pipe and 2.48 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.
* An 18-year-old Gahanna man was cited for drug paraphernalia and drug abuse at 1:29 a.m. Aug. 24 at Johnstown Road and Oxford Loop North after an officer stopped his vehicle for driving without headlights on. Police found a marijuana grinder with marijuana residue, a glass pipe with burnt marijuana and loose marijuana in a plastic bag.
