The Gahanna community is invited to a party next week -- planned by its Active Seniors to support local programming.

A Fall Senior Social and Fundraiser will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Gahanna Senior Center, 480 Rocky Fork Blvd.

"I am particularly excited about this event, because the idea stemmed from our own membership to invite the community for an evening of fellowship, fun and fundraising to benefit the great things we're doing with our active senior population," said Patrick Monaghan, senior center recreation supervisor.

"We invite the Gahanna community to enjoy a memorable evening with us."

Attendees can enjoy hors d'oeuvres, desserts and soft drinks compliments of First & Main of New Albany.

A limited number of tickets are on sale at the senior center for $12 per person, $20 for two.

In addition to the food, there will be live entertainment by pianist Wade Jones, a photo booth with pictures compliments of Doug Melvin Photography, and small-group activities such as zentangle art and bingo.

The entrance fee also includes a ticket to win a "lottery tree" valued at more than $100. The tree will contain more than 75 lottery tickets that could be winners of hundreds of dollars.

Admission also includes a ticket to auctions and chances to win other prizes.

"We are going to have great auction items to win, and it will be a great event to spend time with friends and raise money for a great cause," said Merri Jo Linton, Active Senior Advisory board member.

Auction items include a Christmas basket donated by Dianne Stickel and Linton; a kitchen basket donated by Stickel; a game basket donated by the Mahjong Group; a bowling-movie fun basket donated by the Wii Bowling Group; an Ohio State University basket donated by Mary Ann Friedhoff and Ken Crissman; a zentangle class basket donated by Laura Emler; a basket with card-making supplies donated by Sue Long and Linton and ABCO; two baskets including pool, paddle and golf passes, donated by Gahanna Parks and Recreation; a basket donated by Gahanna Hardware; and Gahanna swag donated by Ink My Graphic.

Proceeds from the event will directly support the escrow account established to facilitate fundraising activities, special events, program equipment and supplies, specifically for the senior center and Active Senior programs.
