David Donofrio and Lee Schreiner have been added to the Nov. 7 ballot for the South-Western Board of Education race.

Both Donofrio and Schreiner successfully appealed the Franklin County Board of Elections’ initial decision that they did not have enough valid signatures on their petitions and would not appear on the ballot.

Donofrio and Schreiner stated their cases at the board of elections’ Sept. 11 meeting and the board agreed their petitions had enough valid signatures.

Their names will be on the ballot.

The board of elections also certified Kirk Hamilton and Adam Slane as write-in candidates for the school board race.

Hamilton and Slane filed as write-in candidates on Aug. 27 after the initial denial of Donofrio’s and Schreiner’s petitions left fewer candidates than what would fill the open seats on the board.

The list of candidates for the school board will now include incumbents Cathy Johnson, Robert Ragland and Schreiner, challengers Anthony Caldwell and Donofrio and write-in candidates Hamilton and Slane.

The seven candidates will be vying for four seats.
