Pickerington's Haunted Village always has been a welcoming place for ghouls and goblins and everything else spooky. Organizers said they believe this year will be no different.
The free family-friendly event is expected to bring an assortment of colorful characters that parade through the heart of town adorned in scary attire.
There also will be plenty of superheroes and Star Wars characters.
Haunted Village is sponsored by the Pickerington Parks and Recreation Department, Pickerington Village Association (formerly known as the Olde Pickerington Village Business Association) and the Pickerington Lions Club.
It will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, on East Columbus Street in the heart of Olde Pickerington Village.
"It's pretty much the same format as years past," said Greg Pearce, Pickerington parks and recreation coordinator.
"If the weather is good, we should expect big numbers," he said.
Most downtown businesses will be open for trick-or-treating and there also will be food vendors on site.
"The Lions Club will also have doughnuts available," Pearce said.
The Haunted Ghost Tours will include yarns about Pickerington's supernatural past and locations that apparitions have been said to frequent.
"(Actors) go around to different stations and tell haunted stories about Pickerington," Pearce said.
Violet Baptist Church will host "Kidstown," offering free children's activities.
Hay rides will take passengers on a trip through yesteryear.
The Pickerington Violet Township Historical Museum, 15 E. Columbus Street, will host a spine-chilling "Haunted Museum" and Pickerington's Rock Factory will Provide entertainment throughout the event.
Pickerington City Hall, 100 Lockville Road, will play host to the annual Tots Trick-or-Treat event from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The free event is open to children ages 2 through 5 accompanied by an adult.
Children are encouraged to wear costumes and seek treats from costumed city officials.
"It's a good safe way for kids to come through City Hall all dressed up in their costumes and there will be great photo opportunities for families," Pearce said.
