Westerville police said a 20-year-old Columbus man was arrested after allegedly punching a woman at a residence in the 1200 block of Belle Meade Place around 2 a.m. Oct. 12.

According to reports, the victim had picked up the couple's son from the suspect's house. She told police she believed the man had been drinking, and left him asleep in her vehicle when she reached the Westerville residence.

Around 4 a.m., the man reportedly woke up and came inside, upset at the woman for leaving him in the car, according to reports. She reported he threw items around the house, kicked a dog and attempted to take her keys.

When she resisted, he allegedly punched her in the head and grabbed her arm, reports stated. Officers on the scene reported seeing a "golf-ball sized" bump on the woman's head.

By the time police arrived, the man had fled the scene.
