Voters in Powell have decided against a major shakeup for City Council.
Residents voted in favor of new terms for incumbent councilmen Frank Bertone, Tom Counts and Brian Lorenz, who serves as the city’s mayor. Melissa Riggins, who beat out four other newcomers, will succeed Councilman Jim Hrivnak, who did not seek re-election.
Lorenz was the top vote-getter with 2,056 votes, followed by Riggins with 1,633, Bertone with 1,611 and Counts with 1,549, or 20, 16, 16 and 15 percent of votes cast, respectively, according to final, unofficial results from the Delaware County Board of Elections.
The leading candidates were trailed by Christina Drummond with 1,199 votes, followed by Jeffrey Gardiner with 1,135, Sharon Valvona with 614 and David Ebersole with 598, or 12, 11, 6 and 6 percent of votes cast, respectively.
