The Children's Christmas at Worthington's historical Orange Johnson House Dec. 2, 9 and 16 will offer children a taste of history.

Participants help prepare (and eat) traditional recipes, sing traditional songs, take a tour of the facility and build a pioneer craft.

Prior registration is required for the event and tickets are $25. For more information, visit worthingtonhistory.org.

Orange Johnson open house

A nonperishable food item that will be donated to the Worthington Resource Pantry serves as admission for the Orange Johnson House's Christmas Open House series Dec. 3, 10 and 17.

Visitors can explore the 19th-century house filled with "old-style decorations" and traditional Christmas music and "holiday treats" are offered in the drawing room.

The play, based on a 1971 book, is centered around a couple who attempt to put on a Christmas pageant with "probably the most inventively awful kids in history."

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.

Afterward, toys may be donated through Christmas Eve.

Donations can be for children of any age, but organizers said they specifically need gifts for teenage boys and girls.

Firefighters also will accept food items that will be donated to the Worthington Resource Pantry. Cash and checks will be accepted, as well.
