St. Charles Preparatory School senior Anthony Ricaurte of Columbus was named a National Merit commended scholar for 2017-18 for placing among the top 5 percent of students who took the Pre-Scholastic Aptitude/National Merit Qualifying Test in their junior year.

Ricaurte, son of Mark and Teresa Ricaurte, attended St. Andrew School and is a member of St. Andrew parish.

He is member of the engineering team and Borromean Chapter of the National Honor Society. In addition, he is captain of the St. Charles golf team, a golf caddie at Scioto Country Club, a student council representative and an NHS tutor.

He is an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister and an altar server at St. Andrew parish and volunteers at the Worthington Resource Pantry and Mount Carmel West Hospital.

Though commended scholars will not continue in competition for National Merit scholarships, some are eligible for special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
