Whitehall police are investigating the delivery of a package that was dropped off at an apartment complex on Irongate Lane on Dec. 19.

The package was in Christmas wrapping paper and contained marijuana with a street value of $31,000, according to Whitehall police Deputy Chief Dan Kelso.

Kelso described the courier service as a “legitimate” business but police have not identified the company, the sender or intended recipient.

Kelso said the courier left the package with the rental office. Employees there found it suspicious and reported it to police, he said.

As of Dec. 20, no charges had been filed in connection to the case.

Police obtained a search warrant and recovered the package that contained 8 pounds of marijuana.

“These drugs will not be on the street or in a child’s possession because of alert citizens,” Kelso said.
