A Lewis Center man sustained a broken arm after being assaulted at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 2 in the 3600 block of Indianola Avenue by a suspect who apparently became enraged when the victim honked his car horn.

The victim said he and his assailant were driving in the same direction when he honked his horn, leading to the apparent road-rage incident in which he allegedly was pushed to the ground.

A woman told police she witnessed the assault.

The victim was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital.

* A woman who lives in the 200 block of East Kelso Road contacted police at 9:08 p.m. Jan. 1 after discovering the source of a noise she heard at 12:01 a.m. that day: the sound of a bullet breaking a window.

The victim said she heard a strange noise shortly after midnight and was unable to find the source, according to the responding officer.

Later that day, the victim discovered a bullet hole in her window and found the projectile nearby on the floor.

Damage was estimated at $200.

* A woman said she was punched in the face several times at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 1 by a man who approached her in the 2600 block of North High Street.

In a report taken at 4:45 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where the victim was being treated for injuries, the woman said the suspect, after striking her, stole $30 she had hidden in a sock after making a purchase.
