A driver fled the scene late last month after wreaking havoc on the yards of neighboring properties in Berlin Township.

Delaware County Sheriff's deputies responded shortly before 8:45 a.m. Dec. 29 to a report that someone had crashed overnight in the 4000 block of South Old State Road.

A driver heading south left the roadway and struck and damaged a business' sign, two trees, two solar lights and a utility marker, according to sheriff's reports. The driver left the scene of the crash without notifying authorities, reports said.

The property owners estimated the damage caused by the crash at more than $1,000, according to sheriff's reports.

* Deputies responded to a report of a theft in progress shortly before 6 p.m. Dec. 29 at a business in the 8800 block of Columbus Pike in Orange Township. Deputies arrested a 19-year-old Columbus man on a charge of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he allegedly attempted to steal a cellphone valued at $50 and motor oil worth $13 from the store, according to sheriff's reports.

* A man reported a theft occurred between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 2700 block of Haven Court in Orange Township. Someone broke a lock and stole a trailer valued at $5,211, reports said.

* A woman reported vandalism occurred between 3:30 and 4:45 p.m. Dec. 27 near the intersection of Africa and Plumb roads in Orange Township. Someone broke a vehicle's window, causing $300 in damage, according to sheriff's reports.

* A man reported vandalism occurred before 8:45 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 2800 block of Liberty Road in Delaware Township. Someone caused $20 worth of damage to a window at the residence, reports said.
