Harold’s American Grille in Old Worthington has closed abruptly after more than two years in business.

At the start of the new year, a sign appeared on the door of the restaurant saying it had closed.

Owners Harold and Melanie Baker opened the restaurant at 671 High St. in mid-2015. Harold Baker also owns Baker & Associates Architects Inc. at 673 High St., which shared a building with Harold’s.

Reached by phone, Melanie Baker said the Bakers did not want to discuss the restaurant’s closing and cited “personal reasons” that were “no one’s business.”

“We don’t wish to divulge any details,” she said.

She said the sign on the door would provide all details the Bakers were willing to give.

“As of January 1, 2018, Harold’s American Grille has closed,” the sign said. “It has come time for us to devote more time to our family. We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to our guests. Your past support and patronage has been greatly appreciated.”

The sign also noted gift cards would be refunded by mail.

The restaurant's website and Facebook page appear to be deactivated.
