A man told Delaware County Sheriff's deputies the sight of his own blood caused him to black out at the wheel and strike a tree late last month in Liberty Township.

Deputies responded at 2:45 a.m. Jan. 24 to a report of a one-vehicle crash in the 3700 block of Chapman Road.

The driver told deputies he began to feel lightheaded after he saw his mouth was bleeding because of a prior dental procedure, according to sheriff's reports. He reported he did not remember passing out or hitting the tree northeast of the roadway.

While the man was uninjured in the crash, his car suffered disabling damage, reports said. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, according to reports.
