The fundraiser that helped Welcome Warehouse expand the number of families it serves is returning for its second year.

The Dublin nonprofit organization will hold Celebrate Community, Cabaret Style, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at La Scala, 4199 W. Dublin-Granville Road.

The event will feature local performer Cabot Rea, as well as a variety of performers from the Dublin City School District.

Last year, Welcome Warehouse's first cabaret event raised more than $20,000, said Jean Griffith, executive director.

The added revenue was partially responsible for the organization's expansion of all of its programs last year, Griffith said.

In 2017, Welcome Warehouse was able to serve 13 percent more families than in previous years, Griffith said.

Welcome Warehouse manages a shop where families can obtain free clothing and personal care and household items. The organization also has a bed donation program to obtain twin-sized mattresses for children without beds.

Other initiatives include the winter holiday adopt-a-family program and back to school outreach, in which children are given school supplies and backpacks.

Families also can receive short-term financial assistance with utility or medical bills, or other basic needs.

This year, Griffith said she hopes to raise $25,000 or more from the cabaret event.

"Last year's event sold out and exceeded our expectations, so we're doing it again," Griffith said.

Along with local performers, the event will feature community speakers, including a school guidance counselor, a Welcome Warehouse volunteer and Welcome Warehouse board president April King, Griffith said.

Dublin Scioto High School teacher Linda Roth and Dublin Jerome High School junior Kyle Swearingen again will serve as the masters of ceremonies.

Roth said she's excited to co-host the event.

"We just had a blast," she said. "It was so much fun."
