Whitehall police arrested a 26-year-old Reynoldsburg man for burglary at 12:50 p.m. Feb. 5 after he allegedly broke into a residence in the 200 block of Saint Christopher Lane.

Police were dispatched to the residence, where two women told officers they were inside the house and heard someone entering it.

One of the women assumed it was her husband, but the women instead saw an unknown man who ran away from the residence, according to reports.

The front door of the residence was not locked, police said.

The women provided a description of the man, who was located by police and returned to the Saint Christopher Lane residence, where the women identified him.

Police also matched footprints at the residence with the man's shoes, which had a distinct diamond-style tread pattern, according to reports.

The suspect initially told police he was at his sister's residence. He appeared to be under the influence of opiates, police said.

The suspect was wearing a wristband from a hospital and told police he recently had been treated for an overdose, according to reports.

The man was arrested and transported to the Franklin County jail.
