A Whitehall business is reaching out to support Get Behind the Badge and the families of two Westerville police officers killed in the line of duty.

King Gyros, 400 S. Hamilton Road, has pledged to donate 100 percent of its sales from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 18, to Get Behind the Badge, to help the families of Westerville officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli.

The officers were fatally shot in the line of duty Feb. 10 responding to a domestic dispute.

They are the first officers killed in the line of duty in the history of the Westerville Division of Police.

Get Behind the Badge is a law-enforcement support group founded by Angie McDowell after her husband, Whitehall police officer Terry McDowell, was slain in 2001 -- the only Whitehall officer killed in the line of duty.

King Gyros opened in 1991.

In the past, owner Yianni Chalkias has donated sales on particular days to support others causes, including hurricane relief in Haiti.
