A Columbus man was arrested for possession of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia at a hotel in the 900 block of South State Street on the night of Feb. 25.
According to reports, a caller reported seeing what he believed was a drug deal, with multiple people meeting other individuals at their car in the parking lot of the hotel and exchanging items.
When police arrived, they reportedly removed three men from the vehicle at gunpoint because of previous reports that the men kept weapons in the vehicle.
When all three men were found to not be carrying weapons, they were taken out of handcuffs and questioned, reports stated.
The three men claimed to be homeless and denied having any drugs or drug use, according to police. Police eventually employed a K-9 unit and found a substance, which one of the men allegedly identified as methamphetamine, and other paraphernalia in the vehicle, reports stated.
One of the men was carrying a syringe containing a small amount of suspected heroin, which was sent for lab testing.
The 35-year-old man in possession of what was identified as methamphetamine was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Franklin County jail, reports stated.
