A 23-year-old Galena man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman on the side of the freeway at 6 p.m. March 21, according to the Worthington Division of Police.
The man was driving on state Route 315 near the intersection with state Route 161, police said, and when he began driving erratically, a male passenger in the front seat attempted to grab the steering wheel. The driver reportedly became angry and stopped the car on the side of the road. When he stopped the car, a female passenger in the back seat reportedly became angry, and the man allegedly pulled the woman out of the vehicle and began hitting her.
Witnesses reported the incident, and when officers arrived, the man had just pulled away from the other two individuals, leaving them on the side of the road.
Officers caught the man and arrested him. He was charged with one count of assault.
